With individual assistance we mean, working with the guests around (multi) problems where the accents are a number of life domains. Individual assistance to minors asks other accents than to adults. With minors we work more steering, whit adults more motivating.


During individual contacts we get, on the basis of a structured series of questions, deeper into these issues and we try to become a clear demarcated question.
-who's the client
-what are the existing networks around the cliet (these networks are located both on micro (in the vicinity) and meso level (network of other organisations, CPAs, ...))
-what's the networks that we can enable for the client
-what is his background, whitch place has it in BOYSPROJECT, ...
-what is the life estate
Often it takes a long time before the clients get a perception of their own question, their situation, the possible bottlenecks and on the possible assistance that is provided.
We therefore follow the rhythm of the client and he is involved at all steps.
For the sake of our security individual contacts are held if at least two employees are present. Otherwise, we keep the contacts in a public place.

In many cases, the client chooses an employee with whom he would have contact, whit whom he feels the best and confident. Many clients need a confidant who helps them to understand their questions and needs, their cultural provisions (housing, school, work, administration, ...) and let them to respect them, who offers them psychological support, who accompanies them to services and organizations, a confidant where they can be admitted. Some clients requires thereby much energy from us which can be very stressful.
By the close bond with the guests and their need for a person on who they can lean on, we often come in a position "friend-older-rescuer" what may be a threat to objectivity.
Depending on the situation, another employee can start the individual assistance or takes it over.

During the process of assistance the clients themselves carry their responsibility and they must participate actively. The client also has to learn how to handle his problem and to resolve it.
Therefor we propose adequate limits. Limits are individually and provide safety for both sides. They provide a frame of reference within can be worked and within the progress of the assistance can be evaluated and even terminated.
Sometimes the process is interrupted because of relocation, repatriation, stay in prison or youth institution, no more need for our offer ...
Therefore, it is not always easy to support a client during his full process.
When a client  didn't drop by for a long time, we try to get back in touch.

After individual contacts we take adequate pauzes to create a distance (not too propose fast solutions) and to create a action plan:
-figuring out the possibilities; sometimes it is sufficient to give just (relevant) information, this can be the theoretically outlining of the possibilities.
-figuring out the existing network or alternatives.
-sort of assistance: by reference or internally?
-consulting the colleagues
-house call, visiting in the institution, ...
-discussion of the further evolution
-keeping the intermediary and/or advisory role after refering (giving information about other organizations and inviting the client to go to them) or accompaniment (going along with the client)
-if necessary create a file, with the permission of the client

Sometimes, we create a manual file. By doing this, we respect the requirements of CAW Antwerpen.
Because of the privacy of the clients, in contacts with organizations we use the name CAW Antwerpen and not Boysproject. Hereby we avoid the link to sex work.
