HERPES

The herpes virus causes painful blisters on and around the lips, the penis, the anus, the testicles or the vagina. There are two forms of herpes: cold sores (fever blisters) and genital herpes (penis, anus, testicles, vagina). It takes between two days and twelve weeks (or even more) for symptoms to appear after infection. It starts with a tingling sensation on or around your lips, penis, testicles, vagina or anus. Then red spots appear and ultimately painful blisters.

Herpes is highly infectious. If you have any sexual contact with an infected person you have a 50% chance of being infected yourself. So if you have a herpes crisis yourself, just avoid sex! You can be infected with herpes by kissing and by having unprotected oral, vaginal and anal sex (both the giving and the receiving partners).
Having sex with a condom is risky too if the areas with herpes are not covered by the condom or if fluid from the herpes blister ends up on the outside of the condom. You can transmit herpes from one part of the body to the other with your hands, so from lip to penis for instance or vice versa and even to other bodily parts such as the arms, the back, etc.
