PUBIC OR CRAB LOUSE and SCABIES
Pubic or crab lice and itch mites are insects. After infection you develop itching and red rashes. If you don’t get treatment, there are no serious consequences but you may be troubled by skin inflammations caused by itching.
Pubic or crab lice are passed on by direct sexual contact, but also by infected clothes, bedding and towels. The itch mite is passed on through intensive skin contact, which doesn’t have necessarily mean sexual contact. If you sleep in the same bed as someone who’s infected, the probability that you will become infected is high. The same goes for when you share a towel. The first symptoms appear between 3 and 6 weeks after infection.
Because pubic or crab lice and itch mites are passed on through bodily contact, condoms cannot offer any protection! There are effective shampoos and creams to treat crab or pubic lice and itch mites.
